Towner Art Gallery Children’s Holiday Workshop
The Towner’s Education Programme has developed a broad range of events and resource material for visitors to the Towner.   The relocation to the new Art Gallery in the Cultural Centre will mean that purpose built community activity rooms will be available for education workshops, family events and talks. 

The Towner has developed schools projects in close collaboration with teachers and artists to develop a programme of creative activities.  These projects can involve art from the Towner Collection while working with a cross section of children from all schools.  The programme works towards raising pupil’s standards of achievement in the classroom.

The new Art Gallery in the Cultural Centre will enable the gallery to expand its programme of weekend and school holiday creative workshops for children and families.

By taking part in practical and creative activities with artists, children are able to:

  • Increase their learning within art and design and between other subjects;
  • Find satisfaction in their achievements;
  • Increase their own self-confidence and self-esteem and be confident when working as part of a group;
  • Enjoy making independent decisions.
