The construction of the building is nearing completion, with work concentrating on the internal elements. The protective sheeting has been removed, revealing the curve of the gallery wall and the angle created by the cafe balcony.

The Ravilious Family and the Private Owner have given special permission for this painting to be reproduced to help raise funds for the New Towner Trust. The New Towner Trust

The New Towner Trust has been established to help support the construction of a new art gallery in the cultural centre in Eastbourne, East Sussex, which will provide a purpose built home for the Towner Art Collection, designed by Rick Mather.

The new art gallery in the cultural centre will provide state of the art gallery and exhibition spaces, education facilities and will bring visual art and culture to audiences at this seaside destination backing onto the South Downs.

This 21st century building will complete the Devonshire Park cultural centre, standing alongside the Congress Theatre, the Winter Garden and Devonshire Park Theatre. Construction is almost complete on this major Lottery funded project.

The gallery will open to the public in Autumn 2008, after environmental stabilisation for the Collections.
